This notice explains how TESORIN backup and restore work. It supplements the Privacy Policy, Data Safety, and Terms.

TESORIN does not require cloud backup. On iOS, backup uses iCloud. On supported non-iOS platforms, backup uses Google Drive.

Backup files may remain with iCloud or Google Drive until you remove them through TESORIN or another available provider control.

Backup Privacy
TESORIN stores records on your device by default. Backup is a connected feature for restoration, not advertising, profiling, banking, or money movement.
Why backup exists
Backup lets you preserve and restore TESORIN records after changing devices, reinstalling the app, resetting app data, or losing local records.
You can use TESORIN without creating a cloud backup.
What a backup may include
A backup may include financial and planning records entered into TESORIN, along with settings needed to restore them.
- Accounts, expenses, income, categories, recurring rules, budgets, and related settings.
- Goals, contributions, net worth records, property values, and property-debt links.
- Investment accounts, value snapshots, recurring investment plans, activities, and investment policy records.
- Education, retirement, debt, mortgage, insurance, and payment-planning records.
- Profile preferences, remittance records, family obligations, gold records, tax records, and similar planning settings.
Backup files are not intended to contain online banking passwords, full bank account numbers, card numbers, government ID numbers, contacts, raw SMS, call logs, photos, videos, audio, health records, or precise GPS location.
How current backups are protected
Current TESORIN backups are encrypted on your device before upload using a backup password you provide. The password is used to derive an encryption key for the file.
Current backups use password-based key derivation and authenticated encryption. The uploaded file contains encoded encrypted content, not plain readable app data.
TESORIN is not designed to receive or store your backup password on its servers. If you lose it, TESORIN may not be able to decrypt or restore the backup.
If you enable automatic backup, the backup password may be kept in platform secure storage so the device can create scheduled encrypted backups without asking you each time. The password is not uploaded with the backup file.
Older backups may have used device-bound encryption and may be restorable only on the device that created them.
Provider access and storage
On iOS, TESORIN stores encrypted backup files in its private iCloud app container when iCloud backup is available and enabled. TESORIN does not receive your Apple Account password.
On supported non-iOS platforms, TESORIN requests the Google Drive authorization needed for app-data backup operations. TESORIN does not receive your Google password.
TESORIN uses the applicable provider to create, list, download, restore, and delete backup files when requested. Apple and Google may process account and cloud-storage information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Restore and replacement of device data
To restore a backup, TESORIN downloads the encrypted file from the applicable cloud provider, asks for the backup password when required, decrypts the file on the device, checks the format, and restores the records.
A restore may replace current TESORIN data on that device. Review the prompts before continuing.
Restore may fail if the file is corrupted, the format is unsupported, the cloud file is unavailable, provider access fails, or the backup password is incorrect or unavailable.
Deleting backup files
Deleting the app, resetting app data, or deleting your TESORIN account may not automatically delete backup files stored in iCloud or Google Drive.
Use TESORIN backup controls where available or another available iCloud or Google Drive control to remove retained files.
After a backup is deleted, TESORIN may not be able to recover it.
No advertising or sale
TESORIN does not use backup contents for advertising, profiling, lending decisions, credit decisions, insurance decisions, or investment recommendations.
TESORIN does not sell personal information or user-entered financial data. Backup exists to provide the backup and restore functions you request.
Your responsibilities
No app, device, account, network, or cloud service can guarantee perfect security. Protect your phone, TESORIN account, cloud account, and backup password.
- Use a strong device passcode or biometric lock.
- Use a strong, unique backup password and keep it somewhere safe.
- Do not share the password with anyone you do not trust.
- Keep your operating system and app updated.
- Check the Apple or Google account associated with backup before creating or restoring a file.
How long files remain
Records stored on your device remain there until you delete them, reset app data, uninstall the app, or use available deletion controls.
iCloud or Google Drive backup files may remain until you delete them. Account deletion may remove account data controlled by TESORIN, but it may not remove local records or cloud files controlled by your Apple or Google account.
Changes to backup
TESORIN may update backup features, encryption formats, supported providers, controls, and this notice over time. Material changes may be reflected through the website, updated effective date, release notes, or an in-app notice.
