Privacy Policy ofApricity
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how 16697518 Canada Inc. (Tesorin) handles information when you use Apricity, our reading app for iPhone and iPad.
Apricity keeps your library on your device. There are no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking, and Tesorin runs no servers that receive anything from the app. We never see your books, notes, notebooks or reading habits.
Effective date: October 9, 2026
Information processed for the following purposes and using the following services:
Your library
Stored only on your iPhone or iPad
Your PDFs, highlights, notes, notebooks, drawings, photos you place in a notebook, shelves, settings and focus timer history. None of it is sent to Tesorin or anyone else.
Reading features on the device
Apple text recognition, Apple and Kokoro voices, Siri
Text recognition for scanned pages, shelf suggestions, read-aloud and the soundscapes all run on your device. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
Book covers
Open Library (Internet Archive)
Data sent: the book's ISBN or, failing that, its title and author, along with your IP address. On by default. Turn it off in Settings → New Books → Find Covers Online.
Natural voice download
GitHub
Data sent: a standard download request, which includes your IP address, only when you choose to download the Kokoro voice.
Device backups
iCloud Backup or your computer
Your device's own backups may include Apricity's data, under your iCloud or computer backup settings. The downloaded voice is left out of backups.
Contacting and supporting the user
Personal Data: your email address and anything you choose to include when you write to us.
Full privacy policy
What stays on your device
Everything you add or make: your PDFs, highlights, notes, notebooks, drawings, photos you place in a notebook, your shelves, your settings and your focus timer history. Text recognition for scanned pages, shelf suggestions, read-aloud and the soundscapes all run on your device. Siri requests are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
The two things that use the internet
Neither sends anything to Tesorin, and neither carries an account, a device identifier or anything we could link to you.
Book covers. When you add a book, Apricity asks Open Library (openlibrary.org, run by the Internet Archive) for its published cover. This is on by default. The app sends the ISBN printed in the book. If no cover is found that way and the PDF is book-length, it sends the book's title instead (from the PDF's details, or from its file name when the PDF has no title) and its author. It never sends the book itself. Like any web request, this also shows Open Library your device's IP address. To stop automatic lookups, turn off Settings → New Books → Find Covers Online; after that, the app looks for a cover only when you choose Find Cover Online for a book yourself. The Internet Archive's terms and privacy policy apply to these requests: archive.org/about/terms.
The Kokoro voice. If you choose to download the Kokoro natural voice, the app downloads one file (about 98 MB) from GitHub. Only a standard download request is sent, which includes your IP address. GitHub's privacy statement applies: GitHub General Privacy Statement.
Keeping and deleting your data
We hold no copy of your books, notes or notebooks, so there is nothing of them for us to keep, delete or hand over. You're in control on your device: remove a book or a notebook to delete it and everything attached to it, remove the Kokoro voice from the Voice screen, or delete the app to delete everything at once. Your device's own backups may include the app's data, under your iCloud or computer backup settings.
Writing to us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use them to reply. Nothing in the app sends us anything; writing to us is always your choice.
Children
Apricity collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above. If a future version of Apricity ever sends anything new off your device, we'll say so in the app before it happens.
